Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in Power Systems to join our team. This role will focus on the design, analysis, and integration of power distribution and conversion systems for defense applications, including radar, electronic warfare, missile and other mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in the defense industry and a strong background in power electronics, energy storage, and high-reliability power architectures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop power distribution, conversion, and energy storage systems for defense applications.

  • Perform power system modeling, analysis, and simulation to ensure optimal performance under military environmental conditions.

  • Develop and implement high-reliability power architectures for radar, electronic warfare, and aerospace systems.

  • Support power electronics integration, including inverters, converters, and battery management systems.

  • Conduct failure analysis, risk assessment, and reliability testing for power systems in compliance with MIL-STD requirements.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and system engineers, to ensure seamless integration of power solutions.

  • Develop and review technical documentation, including schematics, specifications, and test procedures.

  • Interface with government agencies, prime contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with program requirements.

  • Stay current with emerging power system technologies and provide technical leadership on innovation and system improvements.

Compensation Range: $112,900-$146,800

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on defense or aerospace applications.

  • Expertise in single and three- phase power distribution, power conversion (AC/DC, DC/DC), and energy storage technologies.

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461, and other military power and EMI/EMC standards.

  • Proficiency in power system modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, or similar.

  • Experience with high-voltage and high-power systems in rugged military environments.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (active clearance preferred).
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of embedded control systems for power management.

  • Hands-on experience with thermal management of power systems.

  • Strong understanding of DoD acquisition processes and system lifecycle requirements.
